We discussed about 2 picture book. Both books have many illustrations and these supported the story very much. And also these are easy to identified the main characters. Both books has a little text but these are good for 3 or 4 years old kids.
Weakness is only the size. Both books are really big for children. It might say it is easy to see layout but it too much I think.
TEXT
What is the Theme, message, what does the reader learn about self?
- The life is not only fun things but also scarely and some not good things bu keep going. Believe yourself.
How is the quality of writing, use of language, literary style?
- The quality of writing is a litle bit difficult because there are some difficult words.
Is the Character and plot development clear and well done?
- Yes. It is like repetation which means he went the island by boat and he went back to home by boat, too. But it was noy same boat. it is well done.
How is the Reading level, appropriateness for target audience?
- I think it is appropriate for 5 or 6 years old children. It is because the story is interesting/

-Strength of this book is description of main character’s mind. His mind changed when he became hungry, he missed his house and mother.
While, weakness of this book is drawing.
-This drawing is not beautiful so some children don’t like this book.

- Drawing, sketch.
Do illustrations support the story?
- Yes. We could undestand his feeling by illustrations because there are too few texts to understand it.
Size and shape of book appropriate to audience and content, binding quality, durable?
- I think size and shape are appropriate to audience because the size is a little big. It is easy to look illustrations for children. The shap is rectanle so it is normal and good. The content is interesting for children because there are some monsters and Max plays with them. This story is unrealistic but easy to understand. It is durable and binding quality are nice.

-There is a sleeping monster which has human foot. It was associated with it is human. In the story, the main character, Max wore the animal suit. I think it represents they are same.
-The boat shows us to come somebody from somewhere.
-We can guess something will happen in the island.

- Characters’ facial expression changed on each scenes. In particular Max’s face was changing very often. It helps to understand how this story is going.
- The illustrations of growing the trees describes the main part of this story will start.

-There are only 6 illustrarion pages which Max spend time with wild things. We can have a idea of they became friendly.
-The trees illustrations are always on each pages. It supports the story happens at not daily life.

-He is a bestial nature and made mischief.

-He became hungry and wanted to eat dinner so he have to go back to his home.
-He disobeyed his mother. So, then his mother decided not to give dinner for her sun.

-Children who battle with parents and ordinary boy can enjot this book.

-It is useful to understanding the child who doesn’t listen to parents.

-As I mentioned, it will be helpful to understanding mischievous children’s thinking. Sometimes, they don’t show their mind straightly.
